Since 2015, YMO Eyewear has been pioneering the use of innovative materials and processes in eyewear manufacturing, particularly for sunglasses and optical glasses. Our focus is on sustainable materials, including degradable material frames, marine recycled materials, and bio-based frames. With each design, we consider if sustainable resources such as plant fibers, bamboo and wood fibers, coconut shells, coffee grounds, and even carbon fiber can create new possibilities beyond conventional materials.

One of our signature products, the sustainable square sunglasses frames, is made from marine recycled plastic. Sourced from discarded plastic bottles and fishing nets collected from the ocean, these frames are crafted through a re-injection molding process. It took us six years of dedicated research in collaboration with lens manufacturers to develop degradable sun lenses for these environmentally conscious designs.
